Make your first pedometer the best January 19, 2006 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I've reached a point where I'm willing to pay a little more for better quality products. And after having this pedometer for almost a month now, I'm about as excited over this little unit as I am any purchase I've made in the last year.
The construction is awesome, the setup is very easy and the accuracy seems flawless. If you're looking for a pedometer to accurately measure whatever style of walking you desire to track (i.e. casual or aerobic), there is no need to waste your time searching for another pedometer.
My first pedometer - loving it! January 11, 2006 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I have had this item for just a day now, but I'm already singing it's praises! It was extremely easy to program (took about 5 minutes). I love the fact that it has modes for normal steps, aeorbic steps, distance walked, and calories burned - which are super-easy to flip through. I haven't gotten to use the memory feature yet (since this is day 1), but I'm sure it will be flawless as well. It's also great that there is a clock on the readout, so I can easily check the time during a workout or walk without having to wear a watch. I hope the Omron continues to exceed my expectations!
Great pedometer, great gift January 8, 2006 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
This little baby is one of the best fitness products on the market, and at this price is a fantastic gift for almost anyone. I used the Omron HJ112 pedometer to train for the Avon Walk for breast cancer. It is sturdy, very accurate, and has all the features most people would want: memory mode to see how much you've walked during the week (I love this...seeing if I did better than three days ago), instant conversion to miles/klm, calories burned, "aerobic" steps, a bright large display, and a clip cord so you don't lose it.
It's such a reliable, easy-to-use device that it's extremely motivating and makes it almost a pleasure to get in your 10,000 steps a day. Doesn't begin to compare with cheapie three buck pedometers from Walmart that break in a day, are confusing and hard to keep on.
The Omron fits easily onto your pants, in your pocketbook, in your pockets. It's perfect for the casual walker, the dedicated marathoner, anyone who's cross-training. Although compact, it's large enough that you don't easily lose it. But do keep it double secured with the white cord; it can slip off with just the large clip if you've attached it to your clothes. Fun for a teenager just getting started with a fitness program, super for older folks whose doctors have told them to exercise several times a week, ideal for soccer moms like me who are trying to walk at least a few times a week.
I can't stand complicated gadgets and believe me, this is a piece of cake. Sophisticated but simple, something you'll use again and again. Highly recommended.
Good stuff! January 6, 2006 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I bought one of these for my wife and she loved it ... so I picked one up for myself ... and I also think it's a great little gadget! It's very accurate. When I run on the treadmill, it accurately records aerobic minutes and distance. The only negative reviews I see are due to the clip (and a missing battery?), so I think that says it all. The only negative thing about it is that it made me realize how few steps I take in a normal day.
RELIABLE AND EASY TO USE January 3, 2006 48 out of 62 found this review helpful
I bought this for my 72-year-old father for Christmas since he recently had a heart attack and is now doing the 10,000 step regime. He had enrolled in some hospital-sponsored programs to teach him how to eat better and exercise more, and they gave him a cheap pedometer that never worked. He was getting discouraged, so thanks to the wonderful customers at Amazon, I did my homework and purchased this pedometer based on their reviews (which is primarily how I purchase 99% of my Amazon orders).
He has been using this pedometer since Christmas day and walks every night now. It is accurate and he likes all the features-- it measures regular steps, miles, aerobic steps, has a 7-day memory feature, and even a clock. The lanyard is a brilliant idea-- as many others have indicated, the belt clip can slip off, so the lanyard keeps it securely attached.
The best feature of this pedometer is the ease of which my dad was able to use it-- he set it up and got it working in a matter of minutes and the instruction booklet was clear and concise. There are no confusing displays or key combinations to remember, either, and the display is large enough for him to read without squinting (he's developing cataracts so sometimes reading is difficult for him).
For a small investment, this pedometer delivers what it promises.
