Mariah does it again. Cd was on heavy rotation first few weeks of ownership.

4 out of 5 stars Don't call it a comeback!   June 13, 2008

What can I say? Mariah Carey has always been talented and vocally gifted. She really proves she's at the top of her game with this album.

I wasn't sure how to feel about E=MC2, since I only "liked" Emancipation. However, my doubts were pleasantly dismissed.

1. Migrate (feat T-Pain) = club-friendly song. I like listening to this getting ready to go out.
2. Touch My Body = I think we all know this song (and it's hilarious video!)
3. Cruise Control (feat Damian Marley) = reggae influenced chill jam.
4. I Stay In Love = slow jam that can be seen as in the same vein as some of her other hits (My All, The Roof, etc).
5. Side Effects (feat Young Jeezy) = this one continuously gives me chills when I think about the reports about her relationship with Tommy Mottola. love the inclusion of Young Jeezy, but I think this track is strong enough without needing a guest vocalist.
6. I'm That Chick = fun, flirty song
7. Love Story = another slow jam. very wistful in tone.
8. I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time = lovin' this one. mid-tempo.
9. Last Kiss = another slow tempo song.
10. Thanx 4 Nothin' = to all the players out there!
11. O.O.C. = another fun song to groove too.
12. For The Record = love how she managed to name check her own songs!
13. Bye Bye = knew this was going to be the next single! very beautiful and definitely what you would expect from the lady who brought us "Hero"
14. I Wish You Well = good closer. she takes the high road here.

Overall, I find myself getting into this album more easily than I did the last one. I'm constantly listening to this & I think that she has a great ability of using words to illustrate something or to come out with rhymes that you would never have thought of. Not only is she beautiful, she's also pretty smart.

=)

So what are you waiting for? Go! Buy this!!!

5 out of 5 stars MARIAH CAREY "E=MC"   June 12, 2008

If you ask me, Mariah Carey is without doubt in a league of her own in the music industry, her vocal ability is simply stunning, and she never fails to even slightly disappoint each time she releases an album.

"E=MC" is Mariah's 11th studio album and is quite similar to her last album "The Emancipation Of Mimi" which became the biggest selling album of 2005. Mariah tends to be on the end of comments like "she's trying to be hip-hop" far too often and unless you've followed her work, you'll know this clearly isn't the case, Mariah's always had R&B style songs and working with rappers has been a gradual process.

The album opens with "Migrate" (featuring T-Pain) and the song starts with Mariah's whistle note before the "Bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce" kicks in, there's a high chance that this will be a future single off the album as Mariah has said she wants to release it. "Touch My Body" (Mariah's 18th #1 single) is next and is surely known by anyone and everyone by now, it's a great catchy midtempo track that shows Mariah's fun side with the lyrics. "Cruise Control" features Damien Marley and Mariah joins him by singing a couple of lines with a Jamaican accent, again showing another side of her having a fun time. "I Stay In Love" is next which has to be the best ballad on the album, it's similar to Mariah's 16th #1 single "We Belong Together" but her voice is sounds more powerful here. People who are fans of Mariah's ballads will be pleased to know there are quite a few on this album, "Love Story," "Last Kiss," "Thanx 4 Nothin'," "For The Record," "Bye Bye" and "I Wish You Well" are all slower songs and show Mariah's voice isn't going anywhere. The uptempo tracks are also here with "I'm That Chick," (which samples Michael Jackson's "Off The Wall") "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time," (which is possibly Mariah's best uptempo song of her whole career, it's the perfect choice for the 3rd single) "O.O.C." and "Heat" - Young Jeezy features on "Side Effects" which shows how Mariah is still haunted from her divorce. It's good to see Da Brat feature on "4Real4Real" as she's one of Mariah's best friends and know she isn't only working with rappers who are very popular at the moment.

The album doesn't disappoint in any way and Mariah's definitely going nowhere but up in the charts.

5 out of 5 stars A great album to play all the way through   June 11, 2008

I bought this album because I liked "Touch My Body" and "Bye Bye", and after listening to it those tracks are not even in my top 3 from the album (I absolutely adore "For The Record" and I think my next 2 would be "Side Effects" - in part for the lyrics - and "I Stay In Love"). Mariah puts so much emotion and inflection in her voice I think I could listen to her sing anything, but this album is a great display of the voice and lyrics I love. I liked Mariah when she was pop but I have enjoyed her transition to R&B (with the exception of the Glitter years... she was still working out some kinks). I think she has gone a bit to the commercial extreme at times but I also think that she's found her niche in soulful R&B that has her distinct flare. In this same genre I also love Keyshia Cole's first two albums. Although E=MC2 does not have any singles as strong as her two knock-outs from Mimi ("We Belong Together" and "Don't Forget About Us") I dare say I may still enjoy this album a wee bit better as a whole.
