1 out of 5 stars Same old same old...   July 30, 2008

Mariah keeps repeating the same old material and repackage into something new. Calling the album E=MC2 is ridicious, is she trying to tell us this is a the replica version of the last album with steriods injected?

First single 'Touch my body' sounds like a tone down version of "always be my baby' she done more then ten years ago. The second single "bye bye" fare even worse - sounds like any other ballads she had done yeaRs ago.

Unspiring beats, familiar chorus keep repeating all over and over again in the last ten yrs of her career.

Maybe is time for her fans to tell her 'bye bye'?

1 out of 5 stars Stop with the whispy vocals Mimi!   July 28, 2008

E = MC2 by Mariah Carey is intolerable to say the least. I wish Mariah would stop singing in a hush, quiet voice. What happened to that sexy, rich and gutsy powerhouse I used to admire. Her self-image doesn't help either, she still dresses like a 20-year-old. Songs like I Stay in Love, I Wish You Well, I'm That Chick, and Touch My Body are weak and embarrassing. I'm sorry to say this but Mimi has lost the magic, see ya!

3 out of 5 stars Not her best but it's still okay   July 25, 2008

There's been a lot of debate over this album and whether it measures up to "Emancipation"...I agree, Emancipation of Mimi has a fresher sound, more uptempo beats and Mariah seems more in control of her game when one listens to the album.

Before she released E=MC2, Mariah described this album as the "dessert" to Emancipation, which was the "main course"....I can see how that works. This isn't meant to be better than her last album but rather, complement it. The vibe is the same although the second half of the album slows down quite a bit. Mariah also said that this album contains some of her most personal lyrics and if you listen to tracks like "Side Effects", "Bye Bye", "For the Record" and "I Wish You Well", I think you'd agree these four songs have more depth and emotion than some of the others like "Touch My Body", "Cruise Control" and "That Chick".

It's too bad that this album isn't as well received as her previous albums because there were very high expectations for this release. It's a fun album and if you don't want anything too serious, it's worth a listen. Mariah sings much more in her lower register these days which is a relief. She's also far away from throwing in the towel when it comes to her career so let's hope she'll get the message that many of her fans crave a bit more of the "old skool Mariah" and would love to hear that sound on her next album. In the meantime, give E=MC2 a try... Who knows? It may end up growing on you after all.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed :(   July 23, 2008

I bought this CD hoping that it would be close to as good as her previous (which was fabulous) and was disappointed. There are only about 2 songs that I actually "like" and the rest I could do without. If you like rap then this is probably for you. I like rap to an extent but there seems to be much more of it on this CD. I have all of her CD's and I wish I didn't buy this one.

1 out of 5 stars What happened to Mariah???   July 22, 2008

I can't believe an artist with such a wonderful voice would allow herself to trivialize it with such ghetto lyrics! I won't soon purchase another of her CDs if she continues in this manner. I cannot justify listening to her singing, "...between you and I...", which is obviously incorrect grammar. She is an iconic personality that youth idolize, so why would she (and producers) subscribe to such low-rent content? Is that what America desires? America, you can have her.
