5 out of 5 stars Excellent choice   June 24, 2008
This CD is an excellent choice for anyone who loves indie ~ folk ~ rock. It offers all of the above with smart lyrics ~ stong vocals ~ and superb musicianship ~ the track 'silent sea' is wonderfully fluid folk jazz ~ and 'suddenly I see' is rock at it's best. The DVD has good concert footage as well as a few well-produced videos.

5 out of 5 stars Great deluxe version, but is this import worth the extra $?   March 19, 2008
Reiterating the title of my review, is it worth paying more money for this Japanese import? Answer: only if you are a die-hard KT Tunstall fan/collector who must own every version of every album she releases. This import is literally the exact same thing as the domestic version of the Eye to the Telescope (CD+DVD) deluxe version.

Amazon's Product Description contains a minor error here, as the bonus track on disc 1 on this version is "Immune," the same bonus track as the domestic version. And the DVD on this version (region free - will play on any DVD player) offers the exact same 5 music videos and the exact same 5 live performances as the domestic version.

Bottom line: for the serious collector only.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Gift   November 22, 2007
I bought this CD/DVD for my father for his birthday last month, he loves it and he hasn't stopped thanking me.

5 out of 5 stars Good music, great voice   September 27, 2007
I really enjoy this CD. Haven't used the DVD yet, but I'm sure it'll be great.
She has a unique voice which I could listen to all day.

5 out of 5 stars Mysterious Metaphors   January 19, 2007
5 out of 5 found this review helpful

"Over the sea and far away
She's waiting like an iceberg
Waiting to change
But she's cold inside
She wants to be like the water"

The beauty in KT Tunstall's voice gives me shivers in the first song. She weaves in mysterious metaphors that are enjoyable to unravel.

The world she paints make sense in regards to emotions hidden and experiences well lived. With telescopic precision, she unveils the heart of emotional conflicts.

"The fire fades away
Most of everyday
Is full of tired excuses
But it's to hard to say
I wish it were simple
But we give up easily
You're close enough to see that
You're the other side of the world to me"

The lyrics speak for themselves and KT's voice is a vehicle for perfection. The songs are playful, relaxing and you may wish you were in a coffee shop listening to the first two tracks. Then, "Black Horse" takes off with dangerous appeal. Coffee shop casual turns country and then she delves into sultry moods. The delicate "Silent Sea" is haunting in beauty.

With dramatic pacing changes and a variety of familiar musical comforts, the album shines in places and wanders in melancholy momentarily between energetic creativity. Other Side of the World and Silent Sea stand out as unique treasures with poetic appeal and seem to reflect KT's heart and bring out the rapturous elements in her voice.

If you enjoy thinking about the ocean, you may also
enjoy Evening Ocean's The Attraction.
