Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A great set of walks accessible from Glasgow and Edinburgh   July 26, 2007
The Pocket Mountains series is excellent, giving outline details of great walks in a small portable format. "Southern Highlands" covers the hills around Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, Glen Lyon, Crianlarich and Tyndrum. The most northerly hills covered are Beinn Dorain and Beinn an Dothaidh by Bridge of Orchy. East it goes as far as Schiehallion, and also covers Ben Lui, Ben More, Ben Lawers, Ben Lomond and many more. There are also a good number of walks which are not Munros but which offer an enjoyable day out including the Ochils, Ben Ledi, and the Cobbler. All the walks are accessible from Glasgow and Edinburgh, most within 2 hours drive. The walk descriptions are brief but allow you to plot the route on a map. Very useful if you don't know the area. The timings can be a bit ambitious and I would generally add 25% to the timings given for breaks etc. Great stuff.

5 out of 5 stars Superb guide for lovers of the scottish hills   November 29, 2004

A fantastic new range of walking guides. Great design, photography and route descriptions make these a great buy at only 5.99 each!

Pocket Mountains guides were published to critical acclaim in 2003. After reading and using this Guide to The Southern Highlands I can see why.
Written by Nick Williams, an experienced walker and climber, his choice of entertaining circular routes makes for many good hill days. Each guide features 40 walks complete with contoured maps, colour photography and local information - all packed into a convenient pocket-sized format. The guides cover all of the Munros and many other great hills in Scotland. Routes vary from easygoing half-day treks to longer expeditions over multiple tops. The trendy contemporary design, attractive photographs and detail make them an essential purchase for mountain lovers.
