It will save your life! July 4, 2007 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Wether hiking, climing, camping or hunting this is the most important bit of kit you can pack. It is small enough and light enough to not even trouble the strictest 'go light' diehards. Clear concise instruction to get you out of any survival situation alive. You may even want to try out some of the ideas for fun! I couldn't recomend this no nonsence survival bible more strongly, I never get on a plane without this little beauty tucked safely in my pocket!
Excellent, but...! April 18, 2007 13 out of 21 found this review helpful
This book contains all but the kitchen sink and everyone should have one of these in their survival kit. However, every survival book should have very very clear colour photographs of poisonous fungi. The last thing you want when faced with survival is accidentally chowing down on a 'destroying angel' or a 'deathcap'and having your vital organs eroded from the inside out. There are plenty of small books on fungi that are the same size as this book. I recommend going to your local bookstore, finding a comprehensive one with photo's, taking the details and then checking for it on amazon 'used or new' as you will most likely find it cheaper. Don't forget to allow for P&P though.
BUY IT - THERE IS NOTHING BETTER December 31, 2006 24 out of 28 found this review helpful
SIX stars! Everything you need to survive is included in this amazingly small pocket-sized book, yet there is no padding. In true SAS-style you learn only what you need, no more. For example, you don't need to know every edible plant in the world, just a few from each part of the world that you will definitely be able to find in quantity. No need to buy additional books with specialist knowledge - this book covers absolutely every survival topic, with enough information to keep you alive. As Fairburn and Sykes taught us, it's no good overloading yourself with loads of fancy stuff, you just need a handful of reliable bits of knowledge to learn thoroughly. This book is brilliantly and simply laid out and easy to follow. Many of the survival publications out there are for your bookshelf or for amateur, rich, overweight people to refer to when playing survivalist for the day on a hunting trip. This book is different. It is designed to go in your pocket and keep you alive wherever you go. If you ever get into a survival situation then I can guarantee that having this book will save your life.
The total Survival Guide April 5, 2006 13 out of 24 found this review helpful
