Top notch May 14, 2008 If you enjoy a good mockumentary, I warmly recommend People Like Us. It is hilarious, perhaps second only to Spinal Tap itself.
One of the brilliant things is the narration. On the surface it sounds just like the typical BBC narration, but if you really listen to it, it is chock-full of the most hilarious manglings of the language.
I hope they bring out Series Two soon.

I fear series 2 or this wont see a rerelease because of Chris Langhams alleged charges. Which i think are utterly ridiculous but he has effectivelyt had his life ruined by people not worthy of spit polishing his shoes
Desperately seeking Season 2! February 4, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you like deadpan humor and subtle jokes in the background, this is for you. It's not slapstick, there's no laugh track, and it's not the rapid-fire pace of other excellent shows (Coupling, Yes Minister), but it's excellent at what it is.
The best comparison (for Americans) is "This is Spinal Tap", the king of mockumentaries. Except with the expected understated Brit style.
I'm desperately seeking a DVD of series 2. Rumor had it that blueplanetdvd(dot)com had it, but no more. I will gratefully purchase it from anyone...bruce(at)doublepup(dot)com.
Cheers!
Brilliantly funny, memorable and watchable August 20, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I watched this series on television years ago and never forgot it so decided to buy it and really wasn't disappointed in the slightest! I sat down and watched it from start to finish twice and laughed all the way through.
It doesn't have the cringing embarrassment of The Office (although I love that programme too) and I enjoy the variety of characters and situations. Brilliantly clever script and use of language.
I love it!
Deadpan genius August 9, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Chris Langham is an understated comedy genius in this series of documentary spoofs. He manages to create a character of depth out of his hapless, largely unseen interviewer which is brilliantly brought out by his subjects. The photographer episode is my firm favourite with Bill Nighy as the fragile ego'd title role. Just buy it if you love things like 'The Day Today' or 'Human Remains' for a classic british comedy full of the self deprecating humour us Brits are masters of.
BUT WHERE,BBC, IS THE SECOND SERIES DVD. Sadly overdue methinks.
