Pointless June 29, 2008 If you really like John Cusack, this will just about while away a couple of hours. But it's very predictable stuff. I watched this a few months ago and I can't remember any of it.
Waste of time June 3, 2008 It is a very bad film and very disappointing. The plot is boring except a few minutes at the beginning.
Very surprised by the bad reviews, this is a very enjoyable thriller April 15, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Professional hitman Morgan Freeman gets caught by police and then escapes during a car crash, but happens to run into John Cusack on a fishing expedition with his son. Morgan warns Cusack to walk away and pretend he saw nothing, but Cusack, much to his son's dismay, decides he's going to take Morgan in and return him to justice. The trouble is a team of Morgan's fellow villains are frantically trying to find Morgan themselves, so Cusack and son have to get Freeman back to civilisation (they're in the middle of a forest), whilst also avoiding Freeman's team.
I don't understand why people think this storyline is so weak as is makes for a compelling and suspenseful film as it turns out Freeman genuinely doesn't want to see Cusack and his son come to harm and wants to escape as much for their benefit as his. There is also a twist to the story when one of Freeman's team double-crosses him.
This is a very original storyline with Freeman playing the likable villain and Cusack trying to simultaneously bring a villain to justice and improve the relationship with his son, as the film progresses a strange bond develops between the three, this film is definitely worth checking out, Cusack and Freeman are excellent.
This is cringeworthy from beginning to middle March 6, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Don't worry about the end, if you have a brain between your ears you won't get that far.
While the plot seems a reasonable enough starting point for an exciting thriller, the script is so wooden and forced that not even Cussack and Freeman can polish this merde. The four "bad guys" should win Oscars for over acting, and the script writer/s should have their type writers confiscated.
As some one else here said, there is only 1 good line in this whole film. I won't spoil it for you. After all you might be captured by terrorists one day and forced to watch this over and over again, as a particularly sick form of torture.. That one line could be the difference between sanity and gaga land.. Although the latter would be preferable in the end.
AVOID!

I'm wondering what I've missed after seeing the average rating on this movie. It doesn't promise to be anything thought provoking or action packed. It's very 'Morgan Freemen', somewhere between the two! I found the story interesting and the acting (esp Mr Freemen) fantastic. He plays the role of a hitman who is unwittingly caught out by fate and has to escape so he doesn't miss making his hit. Luckily, he doesnt work alone and the men he hired have to help bust him out of jail in order to complete the job and hence get paid. Things don't quite go to plan and he ends up in the hands of an ex-cop and his son who are on a camping trip. What follows is a cat and mouse chase through the mountains etc. I enjoy the intelligent yet witty (in a sarcastic way) conversation that Frank and Ray have leading them to form a certain sort of respect/bond with each other. As per action movie, there are a few dead bodies and a bit of double crossing but nothing dramatic.
