5 stars for Gregory's Girl (2 stars for the sequel) February 4, 2005 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
The film Gregory's Girl was filmed in the Scottish town of Cumbernauld near Glasgow. It is a delightfully-observed comedy about adolescence in the early 1980s, yet the story is timeless. Some excellent acting (even Cumbernauld looks good!)The sequel (Gregory's Two Girls) is, however, a real disappointment. Set in the same school a couple of decades later, Gregory is now a teacher and develops an unhealthy interest in one of the female pupils. This "Lolita"-type scenario is sinister rather than amusing.
